First Sale Law

Vannah’s Dark Press operates under the First Sale Doctrine, a U.S. copyright principle that allows the lawful owner of a book to resell, gift, or alter that physical copy once it has been legally purchased.

Terms & Conditions 

1. General Information

  • All products are handmade, custom-bound books created using officially purchased paperbacks.

  • Prices include insured shipping and platform fees unless otherwise stated.

  • Processing times and costs may vary depending on the type of order and material availability.

2. Product Categories and Pricing

A. Customs (No Character Art)

  • Price: $110 + cost of paperback

  • Options: Cloth or wrap cover; optional dust jacket

  • Reference Material: You may provide references, but VDP will not replicate another binder’s design

  • Production Time: Approximately 1 month from paperback arrival

B. Customs with Character Art (New Binds)

  • Price: Cost of art + $110 + paperback cost (typically $200+)

  • Format: Wrapped hardcover bind

  • Completion: Approximately 1 month after receiving final artwork

  • Payment:

    • Art cost is due upfront at the time of ordering.

    • Remaining balance is due once the artwork is completed.

  • Cancellations:

    • Orders may be canceled within 48 hours of ordering unless art has been paid for, in which case the order is non-refundable.

  • Special Policy:

    • If the design may later be used as a pre-made, VDP will cover art costs exceeding $200 (up to $400) and waive the $110 bind fee.

    • One-of-a-kind designs not intended for replication require full art cost + $110 + paperback cost.

C. Pre-Made Covers

  • Price: $150–$200

  • Covers feature previously listed character art only

  • Does not include event exclusives or retired editions

  • Availability: Approximately 1 month

3. Payment and Fees

  • All payments must be made in full at the time of order or as otherwise agreed.

  • Listed prices include insured shipping and platform processing fees.

  • Additional costs may apply for upgraded materials, specialty finishes, or international shipping.

4. Cancellations, Refunds, and Exchanges

  • Orders may be canceled within 48 hours of purchase for a full refund unless art has already been commissioned or paid for.

  • After 48 hours, or once art payment has been made, all sales are final due to the custom nature of the work.

  • Refunds or replacements will only be provided for loss or significant damage during shipping, verified by an insurance claim.

  • Minor cosmetic imperfections consistent with handmade work are not grounds for refund or exchange.

5. Production Timeline

  • Estimated turnaround time is approximately 1 month per project after materials or artwork are received.

  • Delays may occur due to supply issues, printer delays, or unforeseen personal circumstances; buyers will be notified promptly.

6. Artwork and Design Policy

  • All commissioned or submitted artwork must be legally licensed for commercial use.

  • VDP reserves the right to refuse any design that infringes on another binder’s work or contains unlicensed imagery.

  • Final design adjustments, foiling, or material substitutions may occur for quality or aesthetic reasons.

7. Intellectual Property

  • All Vannah’s Dark Press branding, templates, and original designs are the property of VDP and may not be copied, reproduced, or sold without permission.

8. Shipping and Handling

  • All orders ship with insurance and tracking.

  • VDP is not responsible for delays caused by postal services.

  • Buyers are responsible for providing accurate shipping information.

9. Communication

  • All updates, proofs, and order-related communication will occur via the platform used for purchase or the contact method specified during checkout.

10. Agreement

By submitting payment or confirming an order, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms of Service.
